Oct. 4, 2023 -- Flicker in the Forest
Worship:
Father, you are the King of Kings, the Prince of Peace, and you rule and reign forevermore. You are the BE ALL and the END ALL. Alpha and Omega. Thank you, Father, for the many blessings and wonders of this world. Thank you for the flicker in the forest, for bats that swoop at dusk, for the glow of a fire that warms and cheers us, mesmerizing us with dancing flames of blue orange, and yellow. Father, you are ABSOLUTELY GOOD, and what you have made, let no man tear asunder. We cast off the schemes and wiles of the enemy. He will be no more and it will be as if he never existed. Father, may we always recall that God's goodness defeats evil. May we never return to our evil ways, but triumph in the Salvation of Christ, our Lord and Saviour. Holy Spirit, keep your fire stoked hot within us, that we are purified for the day of Jesus's return. All glory be to God! Amen and amen.
Poem:
Flicker in the Forest
He sits upright, claws clutching the bark, black and beady eyes peering into cracks and crevices, waiting for lunch to appear.
His long, thin, beak is sharp and serviceable, ready to pierce and pluck each tiny insect that dares to roam from it's home within the trunk.
Alas, no such creature appears and our feathered friend squawks in frustration, a short, shrill sound, unpleasing to the ear.
A flutter of his wings and he dives past the boughs of the pine and circles higher. Perhaps a meal to be found nearer the top.
Too soon, be abandons his post, in search of more amenable surroundings. It is safe, once again, for red ant to ramble.
