Mar. 15, 2023 - I Stand at the Door and Knock
Worship:
Father God, you are amazing and wonderful, our creator and waymaker. Father, without you, we are empty shells in a fallen world. We thank you, Jesus, for redeeming us and Holy Spirit, for reviving us. We are alive through Christ and anxiously await our reunification with you, the blessed and holy trinity!
Clarity regarding infant/child baptism:
I stand at the door and knock. You must invite me in. All have free will and may not impose their will on another. As the gatekeeper, you may for a time, by your authority, claim the protection and blessing in my holy name. Your children are safe, they have been anointed (baptised) in my holy water. However, until they fully accept me as their Lord and Saviour, they are not in spiritual communion with me. To establish a mature and intimate relationship with the Father requires a conscious and sincere invitation, recognition and sanctification by the Holy Spirit.
Santification: to sanctify something is to set it apart for God's special use and purpose. Therefore, God's people are sometimes said to be sanctified because they are set apart for God's special purposes in the world: “Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy; for I am the LORD your God. Keep my statutes, and do them; I am the LORD who sanctifies you” (Lev 20:7–8). As this verse helps us see, the word sanctification is closely related to holiness. The word sanctification can be used in a similar sense in the New Testament, and in one sense, believers are already sanctified because of what Jesus has done for them. Hebrews 10:10 tells us that as followers of Christ “we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
